COFFEE

Hainanese immigrants, who arrived in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia during 1900s, introduced a unique coffee brewing technique. Dissatisfied with the bitterness of traditional Western coffee, they experimented with various methods, culminating in the creation of Ipoh white coffee. The addition of butter during the roasting process resulted in a distinct, milder flavour profile that has become synonymous with Ipoh’s culinary heritage.

Chek Hup aims to honour our founder’s love for good coffee. We are meticulous in our processes, taking great care that, from bean to cup, we present a flavourful, aromatic cup of coffee.

We pick coffee at its most ripened stage, taking care not to disturb unripe coffee beans on the branch, before handpicking the best quality beans for transport to our roasters. To bring out the most from the beans, they are brought to a medium roast for a fuller body to complement the bright natural flavour of the beans we use. Our darker roasts are brought to a medium dark roast, a temperature that can release those delicate aromatic oils to bring about a fuller body and smokier aroma.

Here at Chek Hup, we’ve perfected the art of blending coffee with our secret Golden Ratio of Arabica and Robusta beans. That, coupled with our Chek Hup Rock Sugar, creates the perfectly balanced, consistent taste our fans know and love—a perfectly delightful brew in every single packet.

The combination of our rock sugar with our proprietary blend of coffee beans pays homage to Malaysia’s diverse cultural heritage especially in the coffee-drinking culture, while celebrating Chek Hup‘s roots as the pioneer rock sugar producer in Malaysia. Through innovation, we meld convenience with tradition, making it easy and accessible for anyone to experience our signature Chek Hup magic in a cup.

We have expanded our coffee range beyond the signature 3-in-1 Rock Sugar White Coffee. We now offer functional keto-friendly Bulletproof Coffee, exotic Microground Gourmet and Flavoured Gourmet Coffee Series, the Black Coffee Series, and local Malaysian favourites like Kopi Tarik (pulled coffee) and Classic White Coffee.
